He Never Looked Up Again [Spoken Word]

When you fall in love with someone by their sheer body language.
----
When I heard her melody, time froze like the winter had done to the ground. All I could hear was her ear piercing heartbeat, her only sound. I wanted to see the source of this rhythm, this beat. I got off the bus, stepped into the freezing cold, onto the frozen street. I glanced. She had no eyes, no face, no body. All that I could see was her melancholy. The melancholy; pure, beautiful and raw. I looked down at my shoes again, same old beat up Vans I always saw. I left for my front door. The beautiful image of her started to fade more and more. Regardless, for no reason, I had to depart. On my way home, trekking through the snow. It still echoes; the beat her heart. I had to hold my breath to keep the snapshot vivid and clear. It felt like the air in my lungs had stayed for more than a year. But now I had to exhale. Exhale to come back to the world, to reality. When I said to myself: "It would never have happened. Be glad you're still free.".
